What are Cognitive Care Kits?
Cognitive Care Kits are now available through Sechelt Public Library as a unique and innovative resource for individuals living with dementia and/or other forms of cognitive loss. The kits are filled with a variety of books and activities that are designed to set the user up for success. These kits have been developed based on research that focuses on enabling abilities and engaging people in activities that are aimed at stimulating the brain and fostering social connection with others.
What Do The Cognitive Care Kits Contain?
Each kit is filled with a variety of different resources that have been developed for people living with dementia and/or other forms of cognitive loss. We have put together our Cognitive Care Kits with one or more items in the following categories:
- Large print books for reading
- Working the Brain (Spelling, Trivia, Math)
- Conversation Starters
- Creative Arts
- Games and Puzzles
- Picture Books
