Book Clubs

Book Club Sets

How we choose the titles for the Book Club Sets:

1. The collection was created to support local book clubs. The University Women’s Book Club was the first to request multiple copies. In its hey day there were 3 groups of 25 people all reading the same books at different times during the year.

2. Supporting the Elder College course featuring the Festival of the Written Arts authors, we purchase book club sets for the authors studied in the program, usually 5 book club sets each year, celebrating Canadian authors

3. Our staff puts forward suggestions for titles thought to be of interest to our patrons.

4. Books that have a very high number of holds are also added to our Book Club sets.

When we purchase a book club set, we also purchase an audiobook, a large print edition, an ebook and an eaudiobook.
