Library Membership

Permanent residents of Sechelt, Earl’s Cove, Egmont, Pender Harbour, Halfmoon Bay, and Roberts Creek may join the library free of charge with proof of residency (current address) We accept the following: driver’s licence, health card, status card, rental agreement, utility bill, bank statement, property tax notice, and e-bills. A Restricted Access option (2 item limit) is available for new residents whose address hasn’t been updated on the items listed above.


Residents of British Columbia who hold library cards from Lower Mainland libraries (InterLink) may register their cards with the Sechelt Library (you must have your home library card and valid ID showing your current address)

Apply for a card online (restricted access)

The library provides online registration. If you live in Egmont, Pender Harbour, Halfmoon Bay, Sechelt, or Roberts Creek you can now become a library card holder by registering through our online form. Each person can register for one active library card – we ask that you come into the library with your ID showing your Sunshine Coast address to pick up your card within 30 days of receiving your library account confirmation.

BC OneCard

Members of other BC libraries are eligible for a BC OneCard decal, which would give them borrowing privileges at Sechelt Public Library.  Likewise, Sechelt Public Library members are eligible for BC OneCard borrowing privileges at other public libraries in BC.

Non-residents who aren’t eligible for a BC OneCard can purchase a temporary library card for $10.00, which is valid for 1 month.

Library card holders’ rights and responsibilities

You are responsible for all the materials borrowed on your card and for any charges on items that are overdue, lost or damaged. (See Loan Periods and Fines for details). Your library card provides access to licensed databases from outside the library. You may also look at our catalogue from home over the Internet, and access your account to place holds, keep lists and renew items.

Lost or stolen cards

If you lose your library card, you are responsible for any items checked out on your card.You must report it as lost immediately and we will block the card so that no one can use it. There is a $2.00 charge to replace a lost card.

Change of address or password

It is important for us to have your current information. If you change your address or other personal information, contact the library and we’ll update your record.
